Neurofeedback

EEG biofeedback (neurofeedback) is a well established, non-invasive type of treatment that helps individuals learn self-regulation of brain functions by measuring brain waves and providing real-time feedback signals.

It does not involve electrical current or stimulation of the brain.

This technique has been used to treat a variety of conditions such as:

  • Mental health and psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression, OCD, panic or PTSD

  • Developmental delays and behaviour disorders such as ASD, ADHD

  • Neurological issues and brain injuries such as TBI, stroke, tinnitus or Parkinson's

  • Peak performance for athletes, executives and students

What does a neurofeedback treatment session look like?

1. Sensors are placed on your head to take an EEG recording of brainwave activity

2. A software program analyses the EEG recording in real-time

3. The software provides audio-visual feedback to the brain reinforcing prositive brain activity

4. Over tine, these sensory reward train the brain to create new 'habits' of electrical activity

How many sessions will I need?

If sessions are too infrequent or spaced too far apart, the brain may not have the opportunity to consolidate the feedback and training between sessions, which can reduce the effectiveness of training.

2-3 sessions per week

40-50 minute sessions

30-40 sessions in total*

*The actual number of sessions will vary depending on the client's condition and goals.  More sessions may be required for more complex presentations.
